Thanks to those who have called out the slander here. It is a shame for Sean to have to have to defend his life story. I think it might be humbling for any of us to compare his to our contributions to our city. I now have people saying, ENOUGH! So please stop this line of attack. Derek, If this is your foray into the next CC election with cheap shots on irrelevant campaign contributions, just take it somewhere else. And make sure no one in your family ever contributed to any candidate anywhere. Frankly, I have contributed to both McGovern and to Carlone and I think a lot of Cambridge citizens and business owners have, and found ourselves agreeing with or arguing against them at various times. Those contributions are all very transparent, and most of them too small to influence anything. Finally, if we are to continue discussing the proposed 100% affordable development at 2072 Mass Avenue, can we limit it to the site, the building's design and other relevant issues? Dear Neighbors, I'm wondering if you would consider signing a petition I'm circulating in support of a new affordable housing development at the corner of Walden and Massachusetts Avenue. The website for the development is here: https://www.2072massaveapts.com/about As often happens with pretty much any development, people in the neighborhood have organized to oppose this project. You may have gotten a flyer from them. I am trying to show Cambridge officials that there are plenty of us in the neighborhood who do not reflexively oppose anything new in the neighborhood, especially a building designed to create affordable housing. This infuriates me. What would you do if that was your child playing at a recreation center with no one around, playing with a TOY gun (who's kid has not?), and a policeman pulls up and shoots him in under 10 seconds? It simply would not have happened if the child were white. Evidence? What about the requirement that an officer, sworn to protect us (all of us) use some judgement? What if we all put a sign in our front window asking for “Justice for Tamir Rice”, for a start?
