"The Heart of the Matter Circus" is a brand new show in the tradition of the iconic Bread & Puppet Circuses that began at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont in 1970. As usual, the show will draw on traditional circus tropes and familiar Bread & Puppet iconography to draw attention to the urgent issues of the day. Stilt dancers, papier-maché beasts of all sizes and a riotous brass band make a raucous, colorful spectacle of protest and celebration. The show, says Bread & Puppet co-founder Peter Schumann, is “in response to our totally unresurrected capitalist situation, not only the hundreds of thousands of unnecessarily sacrificed pandemic victims but our culture’s unwillingness to recognize Mother Earth’s revolt against our civilization. Affordable Housing Amendment 2.0 to permit 12-15 story buildings

https://www.thecrimson.com/article/2023/8/28/affordable-housing-amendment/ For the record, I think these proposed 12-15 story "affordable housing" buildings are too high for the Avenue (with its shallow lots) and for Porter Square, but perhaps worst of all, this amendment would do away with required set-backs and even minimal parking as well as require no open space. We should be building affordable housing, or workforce housing, but it should fit the neighborhoods around it and be integrated into those neighborhoods. We should not be segregating people into high-rise affordable sore thumbs. History should have taught us that. And all of us deserve trees and a place to sit outside.
