Update! MBTA posts update on changing Cambridge (and other Boston region) bus routes for the Better Bus Project coming on December 22, 2019 The MBTA plans to implement additional changes proposed in the Better Bus Project during the upcoming winter schedule change. Among many other changes in the region, the following bus routes in Cambridge will change starting Sunday 12/22: Route 64: Service will be extended from peak-hours only to all day on weekdays from Oak Square to Kendall/MIT. Weekend service will continue going to University Park. Route 61/70/70A: Route 70A will be eliminated. New Route 61 will be created to replace the route along with additional stops on Route 70. Route 72/74/75: Route 72 will become rush hour only service and will only run in the peak direction. Route 75 will be rerouted from the Fresh Pond Parkway to Huron Ave. to straighten the route and increase frequency. Route 74 will be straightened and have increased frequency by removing service on Blanchard Rd and Bright Rd and rerouting to Concord Ave. Note: Route 1 changes have been delayed until Spring 2020 |

Escalator and elevator closures The MBTA has closed the following escalators: · Central - #360 - Up from the Alewife platform to street level for maintenance · Porter - #510 - will be unavailable on 1/14 for maintenance (upcoming) The MBTA has closed the following elevators: · Central - #861 - between the Ashmont/Braintree platform and street level - through spring 2020 for replacement. Alternative access available by travelling to Kendall/MIT station and requesting then boarding an accessibility shuttle. · Alewife - #815 - between the main lobby and parking garage - through the winter of 2019-20 while it is being replaced. Use the adjacent Alewife Elevator 814 as an alternative. · Harvard - #973 - between the Upper Bus way and Brattle Square will be closed due to renovations between 12/4-12/22. Use elevator #821 in the Main lobby instead |

They recently released a survey to gauge public opinion on what transportation issues they should conduct studies on to generate new data and help shape new concepts to improve the region's transportation future. |

The selected individual will work to lower the number of fatal and serious crashes on Boston’s roadways and increase the number of people bicycling and walking in the City. |
Cambridge Walkshop Manager - City of Cambridge The Walkshop Manager will work closely with staff from Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville to develop walkshops for the 2020 NACTO conference that cover a wide range of projects and present opportunities for attendees to learn directly from the people behind the projects. The Manager will be responsible for facilitating the coordination of walkshops including assisting with idea generation, managing logistics, and promoting the walkshops.
