I write to you this evening with relevant COVID-19 updates and resources.
As of today, there are 438 Cambridge residents who have tested positive for COVID-19. This case count, provided by the City, now includes all Cambridge residents whether they live in a skilled nursing facility or elsewhere in the city. There are 28,163 cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, including 6,254 in Middlesex County. 126,551 patients have been tested, and 957 patients have passed away. Today, Speaker Robert DeLeo announced the launch of an initiative to analyze state policies to assess the existing and emerging needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims and survivors in the Commonwealth. It will be led in partnership with myself and House Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary Claire Cronin.

I will be joined by crisis management experts including State Representative Bill Driscoll, Dan Cence, CEO of Solomon McCown & Cence and infectious disease and public health experts including Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health William Hanage and Dr. Lou Ann Bruno-Murtha, the Chief Infectious Disease physician at Cambridge Health Alliance.

I will also be speaking at the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery's Annual Alcohol and Drug Awareness Town Hall Meeting at 6PM tomorrow. Cambridge Updates
Yesterday, the Cambridge Public Health Department announced that six people who lived or worked at nursing homes or assisted living facilities in the city have died from COVID-19 complications. State Action Updates
Today, House Ways and Means Chair Aaron Michlewitz, Senate Ways and Means Chair Michael Rodrigues and Secretary of the Executive Office of Administration and Finance Michael Heffernan held a Virtual Economic Roundtable on the economic effects of COVID-19. Today, Governor Baker announced two new field hospitals in the state. One will be located at the UMass Lowell recreation center in partnership with Lowell General Hospital and the other will be located at UMass Dartmouth.
Governor Baker is joining a group of other northeast governors to work on a regional framework for lifting stay at home orders and restarting the economy.
