The Curious Person's Guide to Earth Repair Regenerating Soil and Water Landscapes |
Over the past year, the public has grown increasingly aware of the ways we have inadvertently harmed the biodiversity and ecosystems upon which life depends. The United Nations having declared 2021-2030 the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration presents the opportunity for a global focus on regenerating natural systems. Journalist/author Judith D. Schwartz has traveled widely to find people who are successfully restoring healthy soil and water ecosystems. She will talk with Nicola Williams about her books Cows Save the Planet and Water in Plain Sight, and a forthcoming book about the global ecosystem restoration movement. Seasonal Walkabout at Black's Nook |
Come out for a seasonal walkabout with Ranger Jean at Black's Nook. We will monitor wildlife by sign, track or presence, and make note of weather, state of plants, condition of water and other abiotic resources. You can help chart the seasonal changes of some of our most active wildlife spots, or simply come to enjoy the walk. Come dressed to be outdoors for the hour. All knowledge levels welcome. Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site was once home to America’s most popular 19th century poet and scholar, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1837–1882, and served as the first headquarters for General George Washington in 1775–1776. |
