For any bluegrass aficionados out there.  This should be a great show. The BBU (Boston Bluegrass Union) is a great organization, with regular picking parties, training and scholarships for kids, and top flight artists at regular shows in a great hall in Lexington.

(Rounder Records is of course a big supporter).

NEBG is New England Bluegrass, and yes, there is a lot of it here!

This is such a great pairing.  Laurie Lewis has been one of our best singers, writers, fiddlers, and performers for years now as well as one of our classiest artists.

Della Mae is one of our area's newer acts, as well as being one of the most exciting.  This year at IBMA's World of Bluegrass, Della Mae was the most talked about band, the first time that has been the case for a New England Band.

Laurie was one of a small number of ground breaking women to make inroads into what had been a male dominated field.  Della Mae is the strongest all women band bluegrass has yet seen.

We don't get to see Laurie often enough due to her being based on the west coast and somewhat reduced touring schedule.

For those who haven't seen Della Mae since last year's Joe Val Festival, you're in for a real treat.  The band has grown, and continues to grow, at a rapid rate.   Lead singer Celia Woodsmith has become comfortable with her position and the band and has become one of bluegrass' strongest and most unique vocalists and her songs, many of which she had written when in other bands, have been reworked and fit seamlessly with the Della Mae sound, helping to bring the blues back into bluegrass.  Lead guitar player Courtney Hartman has added additional excitement to an already exciting instrumental lineup as well as wonderful harmonies to the band.  I didn't mean to minimize the contributions of the other Della Mae members, Jeni Lyn Gardner, Kimber Ludiker and Amanda Kowalski who are also great, but most of us have been seeing them in the earlier version of Della Mae or with other bands in the past.

This ranks along with the Gibson Brothers/Spinney Brothers show of last year, as one of the most inspired bookings the BBU has done.  Thanks to all involved......

Hope to see you all there.....it should be a great show.
