Subject: Addressing Homelessness: What Can (and Can’t) Architecture Do? 20th Annual Dunlop Lecture with Michael Maltzan

In this year’s Dunlop Lecture, architect Michael Maltzan will discuss his work with the Skid Row Housing Trust and how architecture can help address problems of housing affordability and homelessness. While cautioning architects to be realistic about their ability create wholesale social change, Maltzan asserts that architects must still assume an active role in the realization of sociological and psychological benefits through design.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion with:
Mike Alvidrez, CEO Emeritus, Skid Row Housing Trust and
Helen Leung, Co-Executive Director, LA-Más, moderated by
Sarah Whiting, Dean, Harvard Graduate School of Design
