Leigh,

We would be very interested, and I am with this email asking for a couple of volunteers to work on this with you.

Hello, Porter Square Neighbors Association,

I am reaching out to you today on behalf of Communities Responding to Extreme
Weather (CREW), a local group of residents working to build a
Somerville/Cambridge community that’s resilient and prepared for the
extreme weather events exacerbated or caused by climate change. We do this
by:

-educating people about these events (e.g. heat waves, extreme storms, and
sea level rise) and the impacts they are likely to face (e.g. heatstroke,
flooding, evacuations);
-offering emergency planning support; and
-organizing community service opportunities aimed at reducing
vulnerabilities.

Partnerships are key in ensuring our neighbors and community members are
empowered and supported, especially those who are vulnerable. Currently, CREW
seeks partners in this effort, including you, because of your knowledge,
leadership, and deep relationships with and investment in the communities you
serve. We are hoping you might be willing to work with us as we take on our
first big project in Somerville/Cambridge: to recruit Climate Resilience Hubs
across the city.

Hubs are organizations—local businesses, nonprofits, libraries, churches,
schools, and others—that provide assistance to the community before,
during, and after extreme weather events. For example, a Hub could have
information available about how to prepare your home for a flood, host an
event for the community to learn what the risks in the neighborhood are, or
provide phone charging during a power outage.

If you would be open to this possibility, we’d love to set up a meeting
sometime in the next week or so to talk about what that might involve. The
best way to respond is through email. My email address is
leigh.meunier@gmail.com and/or you can reach out to CREW's coordinator,
Vernon Walker, at vernon@climatecrew.org.

Thanks so much for your time here and all you do to support and build
connection and community. Looking forward to speaking more soon!

Warmly,
Leigh Meunier
