Pride Brunch (6/8) Celebrate Pride Month at City Hall with a festive brunch today (Sat., 6/8) from 9-11am. There'll be a bus to Boston for those who want to attend the parade. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day (6/8) Cambridge residents may bring hazardous waste to the Danehy Park Field Street Parking Lot today (Sat., 6/8) from 9am-1pm. Enter the lot at Concord Ave and Fern St. Gun Buyback Day (6/8) Middlesex County Gun Buy-Back Event at locations in North Cambridge and The Port today (Sat. 6/8) from 9am-12pm. Firefighters Memorial Ceremony (6/9) The annual remembrance will take place this Sunday at Cambridge Cemetery. The procession will form at 9:00am at the main gate and proceed to the Firefighters Memorial at 9:15. Memorial Service at 9:30. Recycling Center Tour and Materials Request * Take advantage of a rare chance to see what happens inside the processing facility for Cambridge's recycling. Spots for the 6/25 tour are limited. Bicycle Plan 2020 WikiMap and Open House (6/12) * The process to update the 2015 Plan has begun. As part of the process, the City has launched a Bicycle Plan 2020 WikiMap to collect public feedback on bicycling in the city. Enter the WikiMap here. * Attend the Cambridge Bicycle Plan 2020 Open House on Wed., 6/12, from 5-8pm, at the CRLS Main Cafeteria (459 Broadway). At the Open House, review informational updates on data, projects and programs, provide feedback and suggestions on the current and envisioned bicycle network, provide suggestions for new Bluebikes stations and see what new roadway projects are in process for the next couple of years. City Splash: Swim in the Charles (6/15) Enjoy a special swim in the Charles River with the Charles River Conservancy on Sat. 6/15. Advance registration required. Ages 12 and up. Tickets $10. North Cambridge Senior Center Reopening (6/17) Relocated due to a year-long renovation project, the NC Senior Center will reopen at 2050 Mass Ave. on Mon. 6/17. In order to prepare for the transition, the Center will be closed from 6/3-6/14. All are welcome to attend an open house on Mon. 6/24 from 9:30-11:30am to celebrate the renovation. Sign Up for Cambridge Open Archives (6/24-6/28) Choose a location and time to delve into Cambridge's history as part of Open Archives. Community Preservation Act Funding: Submit Proposals (6/20) The CPA Committee will meet on 6/20 at 6pm to solicit proposals for projects to be funded this year in 3 categories: affordable housing, open space and historical preservation. Farmers' Market Season Underway The Harvard Sq/Charles Sq market's opening has been delayed, but the markets in Central Square (Mondays, 12-6pm) and Kendall Square, Main St (Wednesdays, 11-6pm) are up and running. See full market schedule. Participatory Budgeting: Submit Ideas! (through 7/31) Collection of ideas for the 6th cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB) has begun. Cambridge community members are welcome to help shape the capital projects on the ballot in a citywide PB election in December. For this next process, the City will set aside $1,000,000 for projects to improve the community. Submit your ideas before 7/31 online at pb.cambridgema.gov or by contacting the Budget Office at (617) 349-4270 or emailing pb@cambridgema.gov. Community Supported Art Program Cambridge Arts is partnering with Pemberton Farms to showcase and sell art created by local artists. Art will be exhibited at 2225 Mass Ave. often accompanied by live artist-led workshops demonstrating the artist’s process. Community Supported Art is modeled on CSA farm shares. Liz Suggests--Dance Happenings José Mateo Ballet Theatre's Dance for World Community will have a full day of dancing, with performances and workshops by groups representing a wide range of dance traditions and styles. The festival will run multiple stages throughout Harvard Sq on Sat. 6/8 from 12-7pm. Be sure to check out the Climate Justice Art Exhibit inside the Sanctuary Theatre (400 Harvard St).
