Friend --
In this issue:
- Marya and I invite you to a virtual House Party Zoom webinar with Swing Left Boston, Sunday April 26, 4 PM
- Exciting and hopeful news: Senator Elizabeth Warren and 770 Massachusetts activists making a difference – and you can too! Together for 2020
First and foremost, I understand that these are hard times and that many people reading this are struggling to get by, take care of children, family and friends, and stay healthy physically and emotionally. I understand that you may not have the time, energy or resources to do anything about the national election. Clearly, health, safety, and financial survival come first. I know that many people reading this are themselves working to help get us through the coronavirus epidemic. God bless you and thank you for what you are doing to help.
I am writing this for those of you who may have the time, resources and attention to volunteer from home, along with thousands of others in the U.S., to affect the November 2020 elections. If you have some space in your life, I beg you to devote some of your time and energy to this effort. Four more years of Donald Trump as U.S. President could be a disaster from which our nation, and the world, may never recover.

(details and sign-up link below)
Do you want to reach outside of our progressive area to:
- defeat President Trump,
- win the U.S. Senate for the Democrats, and
- fight voter suppression and gerrymandering?
Let’s affect the outcome of the November 3 election in key swing states and set our nation on a better course.
Learn how to make a difference in swing states to help win elections for Democrats. Swing Left can show you what you can do now from your home.
You are invited to a VIRTUAL HOUSE PARTY ZOOM WEBINAR MEETING with SWING LEFT BOSTON
When: Apr 26, 2020 04:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Register in advance for this meeting:
https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEtce6vpjMpGNHAAtvTzM624L3_i91GnS1XAfter registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
The webinar/meeting will feature a 45-minute presentation by Somervillian Janet Singer, a volunteer leader in Swing Left Boston, followed by Q and A and discussion for those who are interested in that.
Invite a friend or family member!
If you have questions, please contact Mark at m.niedergang@comcast.net or (617) 629-8033.
If you are interested but cannot attend on April 26th, there are other Swing Left activities where you can make a difference from your home, see: https://swingleftboston.org/calendar/
One concrete option: Starting 10 AM Sunday morning April 26, there will be 50 packets of 20 postcards to Pennsylvania Democratic voters encouraging them to register to vote by mail (which dramatically increases voter turnout) available for pickup on our porch. Stop by and pick up a packet - 29 Conwell Street, Somerville (off Highland Avenue near Somerville Hospital, Engine 7 and 3 Little Figs).
And something you can do right now to help you get engaged in this critically-important work: Sign up for the weekly Swing Left Boston newsletter to get a weekly guide to all upcoming events, plus invitations to specific events near you: https://swingleftboston.org/subscribe/

Exciting and hopeful news: Senator Elizabeth Warren & 770 Massachusetts activists launch Together for 2020 to impact the national elections
I close with this: On Tuesday, Elizabeth Warren joined 770 Massachusetts activists (including me) on a zoom meeting to help launch a new statewide collaboration, Together for 2020. This collaboration of more than a dozen organizations, organized by volunteers, will facilitate engagement of Massachusetts residents in work in the swing states to win the national election in November. If you are interested, check out: https://togetherfor2020.org/
I have no illusions about the impact I or any other individual can have on something as big as the outcome of the Presidential election or U.S. Senate races. Nevertheless, I want to do as much as I personally can in the next 6 ½ months, and I hope, pray and expect that hundreds of thousands of others who care about the future of our country and the world will do the same.
