Ruth From: Craig Kelley [mailto:craig@craigkelley.org] Sent: Monday, October 12, 2009 11:35 AM To: Craig Kelley Subject: Red Line/Blue Line Connector Meeting Monday, 26 October 5:30-7:30 PM Folks: Of all the Mass Transit projects in the works, I think the Red Line/Blue Line Connector Project has the potential to be the most useful for Cambridge, allowing an easier connection from the relatively inexpensive housing North of Boston on the Blue Line to the large job pool in Kendall Square and, to a lesser extent, further West at Alewife. Unlike both the Urban Ring and the Silver Line, this is a true rail project that would extend the Blue Line about 1500 feet underground to the Red Line MGH/Charles Street Station. Just about anyone who has ever taken the Red Line/Green Line/Blue Line connections to the airport (or anyplace else) will understand what a change this project would make. It would also help get people off the platforms at Government Center and Park Street. As I understand it, some of our MBTA limitations revolve around how many people can move across the T platforms at one time, so having a connection like this would take a bit of that strain away. The Executive Office of Transportation is having a public meeting on this project on Monday, 26 October from 5:30-7:30 PM at the Shriners Hospital Auditorium at 51 Blossom Street in Boston.
