Can anyone in the neighborhood help? From: Christine Tullius <c.tullius@comcast.net> Date: Monday, June 4, 2018 at 2:23 PM To: Ruth Ryals <rryals@comcast.net> Subject: Fwd: GISB International Students - Host Families needed!!! Hi Ruth, As you know, my children are attending the German International School Boston. The GISB is currently looking for families to host a few exchange students. Unfortunately my sister is ill and it’s not possible for us to take anyone in at the moment. Could you please forward this to the Buena Vista group? Maybe someone in the area might be interested. I’d be happy to talk with anyone, as would Stefan, regarding their placement. Thanks so much! All the best, Christine Begin forwarded message: From: Antonia Kenney <antonia.kenney@gisbos.org> Subject: GISB International Students - Host Families needed!!! Date: June 4, 2018 at 1:15:30 PM EDT To: undisclosed-recipients:; Dear GISB families, As you know, GISB accepts an exceptional group of international students every year in grades 9 through 12. The students join GISB from Germany and from the global network of German Schools Abroad, and they contribute to the cultural and social diversity of our Upper School. We are urgently seeking host families for a few students: Elisabeth is coming from Germany and will attend 9th grade at GISB for the whole school year. She'll be just 15 years old when she arrives and loves horseback riding. We are looking for a mainly English speaking family for her. Louise is coming from France and will attend 10th grade at GISB for the first semester only. She is 15 years old and an avid cello player. Julieta is coming from Spain and will attend 10th grade at GISB for the whole school year. She is almost 16 years old and loves track and field, and horse back riding. We are looking for a mainly English speaking family for her. Klara is coming from the Czech Republic and will attend 10th grade at GISB for the first semester only. She'll be 16 years in November, she is vegetarian and loves drawing and horseback riding. All students have been thoroughly vetted before their acceptance. They are all great kids, very positive, friendly and independent, and they take their studies serious, and are very family oriented. Please note that their current hobbies do not have to happen here in the US. Their semester or year at GISB is all about new experiences. We do encourage them to learn a new sport, rowing for example or join a gym etc. Please consider supporting the GISB International Student Program and becoming a host family. GISB supports host families in a variety of ways, including a monthly financial stipend of $700. My family has been hosting students for six years now: it has been a wonderful experience for us and our children always love to have an "older sibling" for the year. They all were great role models, they took their studies serious etc. Now as our girls are older (eleven and thirteen years), they help each other with homework. Furthermore we became such good friends with our international students and their families, we are still in touch with them. We are looking forward hearing from you. Please contact antonia.kenney@gisbos.org if you have any questions and/or if you'd like to host. Thank you so much for your consideration. Have a wonderful day!
