AN UNPREDICTABLE TIME & PLACE: MFA  IN VISUAL ARTS THESIS SHOW. See the thesis exhibit featuring artwork by June 2020 and January 2021 graduates of the MFA in Visual Arts program, and learn more about this unique partnership with the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. MASS MoCA, July 2.

UNTOUCHABLE: MFA IN PHOTOGRAPHY THESIS SHOW. The 2021 graduates of the MFA in Photography & Integrated Media program exhibit their work. A sidewalk opening reception will be held on Saturday, July 10. Lunder Arts Center gallery windows, July 2-12.

Presented by Lesley Art + Design, our MFA art talks are free and open to the public.
  • MONDAY, JUNE 21: EVAN GARZA is a DC-based curator, writer, and a 2021-2022 Fulbright U.S. Scholar at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. He and Ryan N. Dennis are the co-curators and artistic directors of the 2021 Texas Biennial. He co-founded Fire Island Artist Residency, the first residency program in the world exclusively for LGBTQ+ artists. Watch Evan Garza's lecture.

  • TUESDAY, JUNE 22: LEE MINGWEI's work focuses on the formation and contemplation of human relationships. His pieces typically involve situations that invite participants to reflect upon their connections with others, or prompt them to create new connections with strangers. Watch Lee Mingwei's lecture.

  • WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23: MICHELLE GRABNER uncovers new dynamic relationships in her work through her visionary practice of repetition. Grabner co-curated the 2014 Whitney Biennial and is the founder and co-director of two nonprofit art spaces: The Suburban and The Poor Farm. Watch Michelle Grabner's lecture.

  • THURSDAY, JUNE 24: DENISE MARKONISH is the senior curator at MASS MoCA. Her exhibitions include Trenton Doyle Hancock: Mind of the Mound; Nick Cave: Until; Explode Every Day: An Inquiry into the Phenomena of Wonder, and These Days: Elegies for Modern Times; and Badlands: New Horizons in Landscape. Watch Denise Markonish's lecture. 12–2 pm

SIDEWALK OPENING RECEPTION: UNTOUCHABLE. Friends, family, and community members are invited to attend the sidewalk opening reception for the thesis exhibition of the 2021 Photography & Integrated Media MFA graduates. The artists will be in attendance to speak about their work. Outside the Lunder Arts Center, 5-7 pm.
