Hi folks! Passing this on from a friend. My daughter Sophie is working with the non-profit *Americans for Refugees in Crisis * (https://americansforrefugees.org/) which is collecting bikes to send to Syrian refugee camps. Their goal is to collect 500 bikes this summer which will be sent to refugee camps and orphanages in Adana, Turkey. During the past 6 years of civil war, *13 million Syrians have been displaced* from their homes, the majority are women and children. Turkey is the largest host country with over 2.5 million refugees. These bikes allow refugees commute to the city to obtain jobs as well as can entertain children at the camps: https://americansforrefugees.org/ Bikes in working or near working condition (tires can be flat but bike should be functional) are preferred; however, we will also accept bike parts or bikes missing parts. Adult and child bikes are welcome as are specialty tandem bikes, trailer bikes, co-pilot bikes etc. All donations are tax deductible and Sophie can provide a tax receipt. If you have a bike to donate and can bring it to SHS please email me at sjacobs@bu.edu . Pick up is also available in some greater Boston areas and can be arranged by emailing sophie.chalfin.jacobs@gmail.com . Many thanks for your consideration! Sharon
