Friends, Our State Rep., Marjorie Decker, is anxious to hear the views and opinions of her constituents, as well as update us on the issues she is involved with at the Statehouse. She has asked me to set up an informal open discussion. We have invited her to join us The evening of Monday, June 24, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Here at Cambridge Cohousing, 175 Richdale Ave. Marjorie is the new House Chair of the Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery. But she also continues to sponsor legislation on a wide range of other policy issues, and will speak in more detail on her personal legislative priorities. She has suggested · An overview of a Rep’s day-to-day activity--and how that leads to legislative advancements-- looking at two recent legislative examples: legislation on Lift the Cap on Kids, and on Chemical Flame Retardants · Marjorie also wants to highlight the issues she personally prioritizes--and why: --especially the issues of Poverty, Climate Change and Renewable Energy · She will be glad to offer an update on the work of the her committee – Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery · The translation of policy into practice – understanding the impacts of the Rep’s policy work (with recent data published by Children’s Health Watch) And perhaps most importantly, she wants to hear from you all about the issues that matter most to you.
