Try Good News Garage in Central Square - (click and clack from NPR). I went to them when I was in a similar situation some years back and they were great - I got 6 more months out of my car for much less than the dealer indicated. Just tell them what your aim is (safety, reliability etc. for 6 months) and they'll tell it to you straight.
