The September 2013 Cookout/AKA BVSC Block Party

Neighbors, Before we all get buried in our regular work and chores, I just want to say thanks to all of our wonderful neighbors (including a lot of new ones)! We had lots of everything (and all of it delicious), including plenty of chairs, tables, grills,. We even had several canopies which 2 neighbors loaned us for the day, even though they could not join us due to other commitments. Thank God we didn't need them to cover the food (and a few of us) in case of rain! We were hoping our porch would hold some of the rest of us! A little more behind the scenes, Margaret Levin was tireless in distributing flyers and going shopping for what we might be missing, and Robin Finnegan was keeping track of it all on a big spreadsheet and shopping for a lot of the paper/plastic stuff. Lots of others went for ice (or butter) at the last minute, came early and set up, spent hours grilling, or stayed late to clean up. Early and late, we all had a great time (at least we did, and everyone else I have seen/heard from). I even found a very talented face painting artist, Lyla at 10 years old, and a balloon launcher/trainer team in Christopher and Melissa! Jody, of course, stole the show with his ferrets. Who knew we had such talent and that I could just have another beer.? See you all of you next year, about the same time, same place! Ruth Ryals & Jim Cornie Margaret Levin Robin Finnegan (& Greg)
