Fwd: Saint James Project: Beech Street Utility Work
From: Phil Terzis <pterzis@acornh.com> Date: July 30, 2019 at 3:29:11 PM EDT Subject: Re: Saint James Project: Beech Street Utility Work
Ruth,
It seems like we have a delay in the schedule for the Beech Street work. Nauset's site work contractor has been delayed on another project, and cannot give us a firm start date for Beech Street. We're hoping they start later this week, but it's possible that it will be put off until Monday.
Thanks.

I'm writing to inform you and the Porter Square Neighborhood Association that our contractor, Nauset Construction, plans to begin working on the Saint James project water and drain connections starting on or about Wednesday, July 31.
This work will be confined to the Beech Street side of the site and is expected to take a week or two, depending on what is found during excavation, (there are a lot of utility lines in Beech Street). I'll let you know if the Wednesday start date changes for any reason.
Nauset and their site work contractor have been working with the Cambridge DPW to plan for traffic control. The current plan is to keep Beech Street open for two-way traffic for the duration of the work, by shifting lanes and temporarily eliminating on-street parking in the immediate area. The goal is to limit the disruption to traffic patterns while the work is being done.
Nauset is also aware of the importance of tree preservation, and will take measures to ensure that tree roots are disturbed as little as possible during the excavation. We have contacted the City Arborist to let him know that this work will likely begin next week.
Please notify members of the Porter Square Neighborhood Association of this work. Feel free to call me at 978-771-5584 if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks.
