Fatal Crash at 1270 Massachusetts Avenue; Traffic Impacts

Officers from the Cambridge Police, Harvard University Police and State Police remain on the scene of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash that occurred just before 4 a.m. in the area of 1270 Massachusetts Avenue. The driver of the vehicle crashed through a fence and into a tree. The male driver and the male passenger were transported to local hospitals, where the driver was later pronounced dead. The passenger sustained serious injuries.

Traffic remains impacted in the immediate area as Mass Ave is closed at Bow Street coming into Harvard Square. Expect delays and seek alternate routes.

This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
