Her balanced view doesn't lose sight of the problem that the AHO aims to remedy while recognizing that waiting for a perfect solution that meets everyone's demands is neither an effective nor fair way of addressing an urgent problem. She cuts through flawed legalese and much hype on the Affordable Housing Overlay. It’s jargon-free or jargon’s clearly explained. Devereux’s Bottom Line: At a minimum, the AHO needs a do-over. This was confirmed by the many serious substantive and drafting concerns raised by longtime, diversely experienced Planning Board members, even those who favor the AHO concept. Devereux excerpt Affordable Housing Overlay * The final open houses to learn about the 100% Affordable Housing Overlay zoning will be held on 7/22 and 7/24 (see schedule). * Read my 3-part blog post on the Overlay: Part I and Part II and Part III * The second Ordinance Committee hearing on it will be held on Thurs., 8/1 at 5:30pm at City Hall. It will be televised and live-streamed. The vice mayor also suggests that we water our street trees. (We’ve adopted our 4.) Devereux excerpt Tree Watering this Summer With the heat wave this weekend, street trees will need extra water and care. Consider watering trees near you using the tips below, and even adopt one of the city's street trees if you'd like! * Street trees need approximately 20 gallons of water per tree per week. * If the tree has a Gator Bag, fill it an additional 2-3 times a week. * If the tree does not have a Gator Bag, water slowly at the base and additional 2-3 times a week. * It's hard to over-water a street tree in the midst of a sudden and extreme heat wave, so please water liberally.
