FW: Affordable Housing

Neighbors, I know most of the rental units around here are not “affordable”, but perhaps someone on this list knows (or knows someone who knows) of a place that will work. If so, let Alanna know. Ruth From: "Mallon, Alanna" <amallon@cambridgema.gov> Date: Friday, March 16, 2018 at 12:23 PM To: Ruth Ryals <rryals@comcast.net> Subject: Affordable Housing Ruth, Three long term Cambridge families face the heartbreaking situation of having to leave our City. Their entire building was purchased by an out of town landlord without the connections to the community that small property owners like you have, and they are facing eviction because they are low-income tenants. These women are employees of our City, have children in the public schools (some honors students at CRLS), and are either life long or longterm Cambridge residents. Their resumes and work records are impressive. Two and three bedroom units in our City are hard enough to come by, but for low income/Section 8 tenants, they face discrimination that makes it even harder. If you have open spaces in any of your properties, or will have space available sometime in the next few months, please reach out to City Councillor Alanna Mallon at (617)349-4263 or amallon@cambridgema.gov, and help provide these families with a home. Councillor Mallon and many of our City's housing experts will be personally available to help you with some additional paperwork that comes with housing Section 8 tenants.” Alanna
