It's time! We need to clear Buena Vista of cars before 3pm! In fact, we will set out the barrels and "slow children" a little after noon. We usually leave one of our cars at the beginning and end of the street, to help block traffic and protect the kids on scooters, etc. And we need clear driveways - ours (for beer & wine, which must be on private property) and in front of the double garages opposite (for the kid's activities). We have some scooters, toys, chalk, etc. but bring what you can for kids to share. Anyone have long balloons, that kids can blow up and let go screaming away (only to pick up later)? We have some long tables for food. But we always need more small tables and chairs for people to sit and eat at, though lots of us will stand, lean on the wall, etc. We can always use another ice bucket for drinks. And another grill. We will need some folks to help set up and some more to clean up at the end. Plus, we always need a few grill masters, so it doesn't become too tiring for any one person (and they can eat). Let the fun begin (and any rain leave before noon)! Your hosts, Ruth Ryals, Jim Cornie & Margaret Levin -- Ruth Ryals raryals@gmail.com

Kudos to Ruth, Jim and Margaret for organizing and creating a lovely evening! All the kids, canines and kitties in the backpack were great to see 😊

There are many folks to be thanked, and here are just a few spectacular ones: Ying Dong for saving me so many trips up and down my steps, both in the set-up and break-down phases, Tom Burke for introductions to a lot of folks, in search of..... and for being a grill meiste,r Jon Lupfer also for being a grill meister, and much other support, Eliz Greywolf for help setting up, colorful decorations (good luck to Bruce with his new hip) Mark Rosentein & Jody Renouf, who never get enough kudos for supplying all of the music every year, a driveway, and reminders to get it on the calendar. (We still miss the ferrets!), Everyone who brought great dishes (I want some recipes), The kids, who had a great time and who remind us what neighborhood get togethers are really about, Mother Nature, who gave us a spectacular day, And, of course, to all of you of every generation and situation who came/stayed, and reminded us why we love the diversity of this neighborhood, And, a bunch of councilors, our state rep, and our mayor who showed up and didn't campaign! I know I missed lots of folks who should get a big shout out, So add your own.... Ruth, Jim, Margaret (and a host of others) p.s. If you have serveware or dishes that you don't recognize, would you drop it off here, so we can find the owner or keep for next year's festivities. It saves money to recycle with us.
