Now, MyRWA is launching an initiative to combat a very visible pollutant: trash in the river—especially plastic waste. We know you are concerned about it because we hear from residents and visitors, mayors and business owners. Read More >>> STUDY TRASH HOT SPOTS Help us get a big picture of the overall trash problem in our watershed by performing a visual assessment of litter in priority areas in your community. You will be assigned a location in your city or town—or if you are willing to travel, let us know! This quick and indispensable measurement helps us determine the most polluted areas for further study. Have one-hour? Register for visual trash assessments and we'll send your route asap. GET INVOLVED WITH YOUR CITY OR TOWN Municipalities care deeply about the litter and plastics problem—and want to hear your concerns and ideas! Ask your local leaders how you can get involved in waste reduction in your community. For example, "Zero Waste Arlington," is a resident committee that helps the Town with outreach and recycling issues. We sat down with three members of the committee to learn more about their work. For example, Karen Grossman (past MyRWA board member, outreach volunteer, and member of Temple Shir Tikvah) recently partnered with MyRWA to host a Plastover webinar. The Plastover movement encourages the mindful reduction of plastic waste during Passover—and is a powerful model of camaraderie towards a cleaner Earth. Watch the recording of the Plastover webinar below to learn more: PS- Save the date! To celebrate the herring MyRWA will host the 25th annual Mystic Herring Run and Paddle on May 9th-23rd.
