New residential development in Alewife

Begin forwarded message (file attached): Wed 5/10: Meeting on 530-unit development near Trader Joe's (7pm at Tobin) <https://avonhillcambridge.nextdoor.com/news_feed/?post=50353759> Jan Devereux <https://avonhillcambridge.nextdoor.com/profile/1058418/> from Huron Village · 6h ago There will be a public meeting on Wed 5/10 at 7pm at Tobin to hear a presentation by the developers of 55 Wheeler St, the Abt office site located behind Trader Joes' and CVS. I've pasted below language from their flyer (attached). I am passing along this information in the hope that residents will come and learn what they are proposing -- for comparison the Atmark apt. complex on Fawcett St near Iggy's has 428 units. The Wheeler St developers are proposing 530 units in 3 buildings up to 7 stories tall. The new public open space they refer to would be located at the end of Wheeler St next to the RR tracks and the Eversource sub-station. The pedestrian bridge has been talked about for many years but there is as yet no firm plan to fund or build it. "55 Wheeler Street is an exciting project of approximately 530 residential units, including a range of unit sizes from studios to three bedrooms. This project will transform 6 acres of existing commercial and surface parking uses into two thoughtfully designed residential buildings limited to 85¹ in height. The project will include: 20% affordability (approximately 100 units) Dedication of land for the planned pedestrian bridge to Alewife Station Significant publicly accessible open space" FILE_3916.pdf <https://avonhillcambridge.nextdoor.com/post/50353759/attachment/8fdd6c9684e d16f9b3b04c6172bee86f/FILE_3916.pdf> Ruth
