Cambridge PD CITYWIDE Alert Cambridge Police Alert Peabody Residents of Vehicle Break-Ins on Richdale Avenue The Cambridge Police Department is warning motor vehicle owners of a series of break-ins that occurred this week on Richdale Avenue. Between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, eight motor vehicles were broken into while parked at a parking garage on Richdale Avenue. Three of the motor vehicles windows were broken to gain entry, while the others were entered via unlocked doors. A handicapped hang tag was stolen from one vehicle and change or cash was stolen from three others. Two other motor vehicles were broken into around the area: one on Mt. Pleasant Street and another on Regent Street. If you have any information on these break-ins or are aware of any suspicious activity (e.g. persons attempting to open multiple car doors) in this area, please contact the Cambridge Police at 617-349-3300. Cambridge Police have directed patrols in place in these areas, are working with the victims and property owners, and are encouraging motorists to take the following precautions to protect themselves, their vehicles, and their belongings from theft: - NEVER LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR. - If you must leave packages or valuables in your car, place them in the trunk or under a blanket to conceal them so that they are not exposed. - Make sure all of your car doors are locked and windows are rolled up when leaving your vehicle.
