FW: Send Your Thoughts on Vacant Storefronts by Friday

We have a problem Houston (make that Cambridge)! Tell the city we care about our small local retailers and restaurants. Tell them they need to help us keep them with affordable rents and other assistance. We are planning to have a discussion about this issue at our regular monthly meeting on July 19th. Stay tuned for details. Spaceus, an MIT designX startup launched this May, finds affordable, shared studio spaces for artists in vacant storefronts. They currently operate in Boston, but are hoping to come to Cambridge this Fall. <<< Reminder >>> As one of Cambridge Local First's priorities for the year, we are happy to announce that the city has recently launched a study to look into vacant storefronts. The retail consultants are collecting feedback from local businesses, property owners, and other experts. The goal is to identify a set of best practices - either programs or policies - to ensure that our streets and squares remain active and vibrant for local businesses and residents. As a reminder... Business owners, property owners, and residents are all encouraged to send us your comments related to vacant spaces before this Friday, June 30!
