I concur with all 3 suggestions although he will find Red Bones more fun atmosphere-wise than Blue Ribbon BBQ. Ole is def the best Mexican in town & nice vibe too. Besides Redbones , the other great BBQ place is Blue Ribbon BBQ , on Mass. Ave. in Arlington (& in West Newton). Baby Back Ribs are must-haves at both places.

Any suggestions for superb bagel and lox brunch hang-outs? The S&S in Inman Square is a great bagels & lox place, and a great place to hang out. I remember one time having brunch there with a friend who had moved to Newburyport. We were sitting next to an inter-racial couple, with a lesbian couple nearby with kids, and a very diverse Cambridge-y crowd elsewhere. He looked around and said "I have GOT to move back to 617!"

The best bagels are in Brookline ( Kupel's ), but for a Singaporean visitor, I'd go to S&S . One more suggestion: Mexican! Take him to Ol é in Inman Square!
