To: raryals <raryals@gmail.com> Dear neighbors, As most of you know and have attended many times, the beloved block party on Buena Vista Pk takes place in September and is one of the most attended block parties in the neighborhood. Each year, a lot of behind-the-scenes work is required to make it happen. Ruth and Jim have been leading this effort for many years. Last year, I helped them out and learned how much work they do for the community. I am writing to ask if anyone would like to step in to partner with them this year. I am looking for 2 - 3 people, if possible. My family and I will be away this fall, so I won't be around. Partnering with them involves a number of tasks, such as being Ruth's right-hand person. She will have a to-do list that includes examples like: sending out flyers to the neighbors, shopping for protein and ice, organizing neighbors to bring a grill, move their cars, set up and clean up tables on the event day. The best part of organizing the event is watching people come and enjoy it. Last year it was pouring rain during the entire event, yet we pulled it off with a decent attendance.
