The race will take place between 7:00am and 10:00am beginning and ending at CambridgeSide. While the event does involve the closure of some Cambridge roadways, this is not a City sponsored event. Traffic impacts will primarily take place in the eastern part of the city: in and around CambridgeSide, Kendall Square, MIT, Cambridgeport, Riverside, Mid-Cambridge, Harvard Square and West Cambridge, as well as parts of Boston (primarily along Soldiers Field Road). Organizers have been coordinating with the MBTA to minimize disruptions to bus routes in the area. It is best to consult www.mbta.com, the MBTA app or their social media accounts for more information on detours and delays. Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians, and cyclists are allowed to ride on sidewalks at a walking pace, except where banned in business districts. Specified roads will be closed to all users, including cyclists. Further information about these road closures are available on the city’s website: www.cambridgema.gov. Please consider the candidates qualifications and question their ability to work, cooperatively, on the whole range of issues this city needs to address. It is one of my pet peeves, that some of the candidates (in their literature, in their Cambridge Civic Journal post) are not telling you anything about their credentials, their experience, just a long list of what they are for, no explanation of how to realistically get there. I will only add that there are many ways to screen candidates, and I think this one has been blown out of proportion. We should be looking at background, experience, and qualifications to deal with the many issues (not just housing) facing our fair city.
