I was listening to Boston Public Radio today, Jan. 25, [WGBH 89.7 FM https://www.wgbh.org/news/boston-public-radio on 11a-2 pm; listen tomorrow to streaming 1/25 segment on cheap electricity rates] and learned about electricity aggregation—MA municipalities can aggregate the electrical load of customers within their borders to procure competitive supply of electricity.
Why have I NEVER received any information about this from the city of Cambridge? There were, apparently, 4 public meetings in 2017 but an all-residents USPS mailing would have done a better job. Sheesh. They do those all-residents mailing for the annual budget (in 4-color, multiple-page brochure), for the city census, and other issues.

This is a good initiative that can be made a lot better with community support. In Cambridge, our OPT-OUT level of renewable energy should be a lot higher than it is so that the most households and small businesses possible take advantage of this program. In the past, the city did share information about its community program and councilors have shared it through their newsletters. And for a time members of Mothers Out Front, myself included, walked around and knocked on doors in our neighborhoods to remind people of this opportunity to lower their electric bills AND rely on renewable sources. (I think you remember, Ruth, us sitting on your front porch with you and talking about this program.)
